It brings me SOOOOO much pleasure to write this post. I have known Chrissy for 13 years! Although back in 1996 she was introduced to me by my brother as his then girlfriend. This sassy, short-haired brunette with the thick Jersey accent. My how things have changed. Their college romance faded and her hair grew out (can I get an Amen Chris!) but one thing that never changed was our friendship. Chrissy is a soul sister. One of those friends that time and many miles can’t diminish. The coolest part is Ryan was friends with her in college way before I knew Ryan existed. It’s as if it was always destiny that Chrissy would be apart of our family. She is a diamond in the rough.
There are two things you should know. One, my most embarrassing moment EVER EVER happened at her parents house. There is folklore and legend about it and I am ashamed to say the name of my most embarrassing story is “The corn poop story”. No, I will not be sharing that anytime soon, but you can imagine (or maybe you don’t want to after that title!). Two, the moment we met Jay last year Ryan and I knew he was the man we had been praying for Chrissy. We LOVE Chrissy and Jay together, they bring out the best in each other.
You can imagine how honored we felt when Chrissy called us with the big news of their engagement and wanted us to be the photographers. Yuppers!
Chrissy and Jay are one funky styling pair. From the guy’s H&M skinny suits to the Urban Outfitters cake topper. There was no shortage of tattoos and fabulous hairstyles. It makes Ryan and I miss the North and big city style. A true treat to photograph.
I have to show one of my favorite ring shots to date. I asked Chrissy what her favorite tattoo of Jay’s was. She told me she loves the tattoo of the snake and the lion fighting representing God and satan. Ryan executed the shot perfectly. The color is just amazing.
Without further ado, a celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Romine.
Some details.
The boutonniere
The guys changed into Vans after the ceremony.
Her something borrowed, her grandmothers ring.
Her dad and her brothers practicing before the ceremony. Can we say TEAR JERKER…your dad and brothers singing to you on YOUR WEDDING DAY!!! Beautiful.
The brunette stud club.
Schexy ladies! This wedding was so nostalgic. Sooo many friends from college were up in Jersey to celebrate or were in the bridal party.
Maid of Honor, Beth.
This was during the song Chrissy’s father and brothers sang. Tender moment.
Just before Chrissy and Jay were pronounced the pastor asked the congregation to reach out there hands and pray a blessing over their union. It was very powerful.
I know this is a standard portrait, but I have to show off Chrissy and her awesome brothers Jimmy and Matthew. The siblings Aceino.
Time to celebrate!
Poo poo on spotty shadows and a random tree. We ended up moving locations but I still love this shot.
Time for Chrissy and Jay to steam it up.
I know these aren’t the most flattering shots, but they are SOOO Jay and Chrissy faces. Sorry Chris, you make this face everytime you say “Ewwww”!
The reception was up in Tappan, NY at the oldest tavern in NY, The 76 House. It was such a cool, intimate tavern. By far the most compact reception we have photographed. I literally couldn’t take a shot on the dance floor being so short and it being so crowded. We don’t normally use the fisheye so much, but it was the only way to get group shots.
This is Chrissy’s parents and a VERY Matt and Donna Marie face. Coolest parents!
What made it an eensy bit more crowded was the eight-piece band. So fun!
Some guests ventured to the outside area for some fresh air. We loved seeing some familiar faces. This is Julie, the better half of Seth and Julie…friends from college and photographers up in DC.
Another friend from college, Allison. We usually bum a room from her and Chad when we are in DC. Allison is also an photographer in DC. I swear we have friends that don’t have a camera attached to them.
Chrissy and Jay….WE LOVE YOU!! Words can not describe the joy it was to bear witness to your vows and to truly celebrate with you. You are a tremendous witness of God’s love and goodness.
Stay tuned for Chrissy and Jay’s “Day After” session in New York City. Hot-cha-cha!
