Kristie and Dean
Sunday, August 26th, 2007This was a wedding where,I, Kelly, got to be on the other side of the lens. My former roommate, Kristie, walked down the aisle in her beautiful, champagne dress. While I held back tears of joy, Ryan was busily photographing this gorgeous summer evening wedding. The wedding went off without a hitch and despite the blistering heat, everyone was a trooper taking photos outside. I had forgotten how fun it can be to actually dance at a wedding! Ryan got to break away from the camera for several songs and boogie down with me.
Cheers to a beautiful and perfect couple. We were honored you chose us to play such a significant roll in your wedding day. We love you guys!
Bridal Delight-Kristie
Saturday, August 25th, 2007One of my favorite types of shoots are bridal portraits. I just love the challenge of taking photos that represent the bride, her gown, her personality and her excitement. To us, this is the shoot where you capture the bride at their most beautiful moment! The icing on the cake is when you shoot someone you know and love. Not only was our bride Ryan and my dearest friend, she is a former roommate. To those who know her, her name is Kristie, to Ryan and me, it is Kricket. After three patient years, her day has finally arrived.
We decided to drive out to a friend’s farm and capture the many expressions of Kristie with an old Virginia, southern twist. The irony of the whole day was it was the hottest day of the summer and the fields were covered with….you guessed it….crickets! How fitting. At any given moment there were literally 30-40 crickets in every layer of tool. They never touched her legs and you can’t see them in any of the pictures….but underneath that beautiful overlay was a sea of creepy crawlies! So despite heat and bugs, we had the BEST time capturing our beautiful Kricket.
Ashley and Andy say “I do”
Thursday, August 16th, 2007Hands down, hottest wedding we have ever shot! 95 degrees and sunny!!!!! Before the wedding started I think my shirt was completely drenched. My fake tan was slowly wiping off my body too…my secret was out! Curly hair and eyelashes became limp….but enough about me, who cares what the photographers look like! This was Andy and Ashley’s big day.
Ashley’s family put in some serious elbow grease to make their home the site for both the wedding and reception. I have no idea how many acres of sod were laid, gardens planted or drainage pipes installed…but it was worth it! Absolutely gorgeous. They even built a beautiful arbor and had the brick laid with the, University of Virginia, herringbone pattern. Now that is love for your alma mater and a wonderful setting to say “I do” under.
One very note worthy event. Ashley presented her parents with embroidered handkerchiefs before the wedding as a gift. I too, was holding back tears, it was an amazing sentimental touch. This is truly the best part of photography, catching those moments that are so unique and so special to that family.
Despite the heat outside, you guys were incredibly cool and relaxed. Thanks for letting us document your most important day, we had a great time! Hope Jamaca was relaxing and fun-filled. Ire Ire man.
SIDENOTE: The blue in the bridesmaid dresses were my absolute favorite color to photograph…stunning!
Ashley’s mom added this family heirloom to Ashley’s dress. She wore it on her wedding day as well. Beautiful!
