Canadian love found in America
Thursday, December 6th, 2007So what are the odds of two Canadians meeting in Virginia, falling in love and getting married? I don’t know the exact figure, but I am pretty sure that it isn’t too common. My beautiful friend Sarah fell into this category. After living in Virginia for the last 10 years or so who would have thought a new hockey coach arriving a few years ago to coach and earn his masters degree would be the man we prayed for her. WHAM…they fell in love. Not only are they really really ridiculously good looking (Zoolander anyone?) But they are such a terrific match. Again, we enjoy photographing weddings of real life friends because you are so connected to their love story and can listen to them take their vows and know that you will have a part in their life together outside of that one day you are shooting. Such an honor.
So Jeff and Sarah, thank you. Thank you for your friendship, thank you for entrusting us with your treasured memories, and thank you for being yourselves around us. We are thrilled at your blessed union.
It has to be said that two days before the wedding, Sarah found out that a Christmas parade would be happening downtown at the exact time her reception was suppose to start. This posed a logistical nightmare as the building her reception was located in was on the very street the parade would be coming down. How was she to get her guests around the city that was blocked off on all ends and to the parking garage? Thank you to the Lynchburg police department for letting us “but” in line to get everyone safely to the reception site.
Well what was stressful news turned out to be such a cool highlight to our pictures. We decided “if you can’t beat em, join em”! We had Jeff and Sarah jump right into the parade and march down the street a little bit. People started clapping and cheering not sure if it was real or part of the parade, it was great! Who gets a parade on their wedding day? It made for some really unique pictures and a lot of laughs as people shouted their well wishes at them and clapped as they walked by. These are the moments you can’t plan, you just roll with it and hope the shots come out terrific.
Enjoy some of our favorite (or “favourite” if you are Canadian) photos with our wonderful friends.
I know, another shoe shot. They are just fun to take.

Ummmm, can we say chemistry? Oohhh lala. Love this one.
Parade time!!!
Simply Sarah
Monday, December 3rd, 2007One of my favorite things is being able to post bridal portraits. There are some shoots you just fall in love with all the photos, but you can’t release them until the bride gets married. I don’t think any bride would appreciate her bridal portraits being on the web before her wedding date!
Ryan and I were asked to photograph a very dear friends wedding, which took place this last Saturday, December 1st. Back in October we spent a lovely fall afternoon with her capturing the extremely elegant side of Sarah. She is 5’10” and very “modelesque”. A true natural in front of the camera which makes our job 150% easier to not have to direct in anyway but just throw out ideas and see how she interpreted them.
The location is the newly renovated Kriselea, a beautiful old, southern mansion that is being converted into a bed and breakfast as well as a ballroom for weddings. I was amazed at how many neat gardens, gates, and nooks and cranny’s we came across.
There was just enough fall color left on the trees to provide some great punches of color to the background.
Enjoy my beautiful friend Sarah!
