1/4 of a year old

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Hard to believe I was waddling around just 3 months ago praying the big day would arrive that we would meet Bennett. In a blink of an eye…he is a 1/4 of a year old. Unbelievable! He is made of pure sugar, I am afraid to get him wet lest he melt! He is smiling, laughing, cooing, but mostly just showing how studly he is. It is no joke that we make some massive kids. Bennett is in the 95th percentile for height and 75th for weight. With size comes strength. He loves to stand for long periods, has a really steady neck and can push his upper half up when laying on his belly. Pretty impressive for someone his age. We already entered him into some bench pressing and arm wrestling competitions. An athlete already (at least his dad hopes so).

I decided to snap some shots of our little buddy seeing as it is very true that you take more pictures of your first than second. He got his very own photo shoot and a chance to model his cool grandpa hat.

Enjoy our sugar cube, I know I thank God everyday for the miracle that he is.

A sure sign it is time to stop.

Is there anything better?

You may think I would answer that question with the word “love”. I mean we are primarily wedding photographers. But I am going to be totally superficial and a complete girl and answer that question with the word…..SHOES! I love shoes, not just a little, like I have tubs of them. It’s a really slippery slope for me to walk by a shoe store. Don’t even let me see the word “clearance” or you can bet your sweet petutie I am bee lining for that isle.

The sad thing is in my former life, as a hotel sale manager, I wore suits and dresses to work everyday. I could handle a good 5 inch heel because I sat behind a desk most of the time and could suck it up if I had to give a 30 minute tour. All in the name of fashion! My next job was a special education teacher. On occasion I would wear a more modest 2-3 inch heel to school and tough it out for the day. These days I am running around chasing a 21 month old and caring for our 3 month old. Flip flops and flats are my current BFF.

So I pat my tubs and look at my glorious shoe rack full of amazing heels and sigh. How I miss thee. As a photographer you would be half crazy to wear a heel and shoot. My back and feet already have a hard enough time standing for a 10 hour day. Comfort is the theme while shooting.

To honor my “love”, I have decided to showcase some of my favorites. As you can see in the photos, some of them have been hanging on the rack so long that they have creases. CREASES people!!! That should be a sin.

This first pair is a purchase from yesterday. Ryan talked to me into it because he liked them so much. I asked him where in the world I was going to wear them and he said…”On a date with me silly!” Oh yeah…that’s a good point. Our three year anniversary is only a few weeks away.

Shoes, glorious shoes....how I miss thee

Bows….aren’t they the sweetest? I love embellishments. As long it is subtle. Not like a three dimensional Christmas sweater….that’s over the top embellishments.

Shoes, glorious shoes....how I miss thee

Look..there is dust. Tisk, tisk, tisk

Buttons….I love these…they are too small after children but I can’t bear to part with them. I keep willing my feet to shrink.
Shoes, glorious shoes....how I miss thee

This is more like reality. Cute…but only half the sass of the heels.

Shoes, glorious shoes....how I miss thee

Thank you for taking a moment of silence to honor some of my champion heels. I hope you appreciate my “true love”.
