Clair and Scott ~ 11.22.08
posted by Kelly
Clair and Scott came to us at the end of the summer and said, “We are not having a typical wedding.” Okay, we are listening. It wasn’t that they were against traditional, they just wanted to make it clear that they were going to interject some very personal elements into the day that truly reflected who they are. For instance, on their invitation they asked all their guests to wear purple. This is based off of a favorite song by Gogol Bordello where he sings “Start wearing purple” They are a gypsy punk band out of New York ( a very fun song, might I add!) Scott is also the lead singer of his band, NeoComplex. It’s not a true celebration of your own wedding unless you rock it out for your family and friends. He and the other band members played a set the second half of their reception which was a real treat for Ryan and I. I have to say it is the first time we photographed the groom playing the reception music.
Clair and Scott, you guys are so genuine, generous and obviously loved by your family and friends. The stop we made at your house before the reception was such an unexpected moment away from the hustle and bustle of the day. Eating sunchips in your kitchen was not what I thought would be in the agenda that day, but I totally enjoyed it.
We wish you only the best as you start your life and family together. Keep being a rock star Scott!
Here are some highlights from your special day.
The pin was Clair’s something old. Her grandfather gave it to her grandmother in the early 1920’s as an engagement gift. She was named after her grandmother and loved her very dearly.
The pin was added to the front of Clair’s wedding dress by her mother.
This is Ryan’s humor….which I totally love.
Celebrating part of Scott’s heritage, during the ceremony family was asked to come up and participate in a Native American tradition of a blanket ceremony.
We snuck in some freeezing cold shots just in the nick of time…we were literally racing the sun to an opening where we could have the Blue Ridge Mountains in the backgound
I found this to be a very Scott face throughout the day
I love the facial expressions in these next two shots. Clair to Scott and Clair’s dad to Clair…so sweet!
This little boy had his eye on the prize! He was watching the cake cutting eagerly
This kid had amazing rhythm. He took his dance moves VERY seriously.
Time to rock out!
