Bennett’s 1st b-day- Part II
posted by Kelly
As we know 1st birthdays are totally for the parents. Bennett had no clue what was going on, he was just happy to stare at faces other than ours! We kept it to a few friends and family but I still had to have a theme! I love themes, color schemes, the whole nine. I’m that person!
After looking on flickr for some boy cupcake themes I stumbled upon the most adorble sock monkey and banana cupcakes and fell in love! Bennett has a sock monkey animal in his room (thanks Uncle Dan) so a theme was born along with a red, brown and mustard yellow color scheme. Off to the party store I went for a few extra decorations and this was the end product for our little party.
You have to see a closer view of our cupcakes. My amazingly talented friend and owner of Taste Selects Confectionery, Beth Baxter, took the picture I sent her and ran with it. These cupcakes taste as good as they look. The icing is ridiculous and the cake was so moist! You must, must, must call Beth if you are looking for a unique and delicious wedding cake, favors or specialty deserts. I stand behind her work 110% !
The little shortbread cookies were almost better than the cupcakes. DEEEELICIOUS!
We let the kiddos blow off some steam in the backyard before coming in for cupcakes. Here are some of the cuties that came out to celebrate Bennett’s first year.
Chloe has been logging some serious hours on her new swing.
My bro, Jamie and his mini me, Noah.
I love this next progression. When we started singing “Happy Birthday” Bennett just glazed over in the eyes. No clue why all these big people are singing and a flaming cake was coming his way. You can see where he starts to “get it”.
This is my favorite picture. I put some icing on his lips to taste.
That’s all folks!
