Cindy and Josh~ Wed May 23, 2009 ~ Atlantic Beach, NC
posted by Kelly
I am going to have a hard time not being wordy about Cindy and Josh’s beach-side wedding. If hearts could smile, our hearts would be grinning ear to ear as we pulled away from Atlantic Beach after being part of the Boyd/Wood family celebration of two amazing individuals!
I recently posted Cindy’s bridal set from a few months ago, not to mention our fall engagement session. We have been spending a lot of time over the last year getting to know Cindy and Josh. How blessed we are by our new friends. Cindy decided after researching lots of potential venues in Lynchburg to go a completely different direction. She scaled back the wedding attendance and moved it to a location that has brought her family DECADES of memories….her grandparents beach home in the little island city of Atlantic Beach. When she emailed us asking if we would be willing to switch locations we took all of .000045878 seconds to write back and enthusiastically say YES!
If we could redo our wedding, this is the route we would go. I LOVED the laid-back, family, beach vibe we had all weekend. The weather was tremendous and Cindy and Josh’s families could not be any more wonderful to Ryan and me. They truly rolled out the red carpet and loved on us. It was awesome. We almost felt guilty calling it work…ALMOST!
We are SO excited to share their images from their big day. We have so many great weddings lined up to blog about so be patient as we get back on our feet after being gone for two weeks.
Cindy and Josh, you had one of the most amazing, God-honoring ceremonies we have been a part of. You are a couple who is abundantly blessed with family and friends. Thank you for choosing us! Enjoy memories of your big day.
This picture is the theme of the wedding. WOOD! Josh’s last name and the main idea behind her details. Josh carved the tiered cupcake stand, the little bride and groom topper, and made these ornaments as favors (among other handy things). How great is that? Not to mention the incredibly unique color scheme of marigold, coral, and aqua blue….yummy!
Let’s get started with our morning. We headed over to the Sheraton to get the guys getting ready first. Josh’s dad was his best man and also the officiant for their ceremony. Heading down the elevator to the beach.
We found lots of little colored walls and smaller hotels with fun colors.
on to the ladies….
Got to love the sheer logistics of getting into a wedding dress. Her face says it all.
I am in LOVE with the marigold bridesmaid dresses from J-Crew.
We went down to a boat launch and found some local “color”…literally…these fish were bleeding their local color all over the dock!
Some details around the ceremony location.
Cindy and Josh decided to add another personal touch by having charity tokens put on each guests chair. They were to drop them into any of the three baskets they had sitting out of charities near and dear to Josh and Cindy’s heart that they will donate a dollar per token. Loved it!
Program fans….practical for two reasons! Cake toppers that Josh made. Adorable.
Josh and his dad shared a few moments before the ceremony
Love these next two shots Ryan grabbed of Josh’s dad holding The Word and Josh spending a few moments alone on the dock.
Instead of a unity candle, both mothers simultaneously poured water into the base of this tree uniting the two families.
How hot is this bridal party? I like my ladies with a little bit of sauce!
Bring on the romance. My favorite time of the wedding day, the private session. Not hard to be inspired by the scenery.
I love this shot for obvious reasons…so epic. My favorite is Josh’s dad trying to have some peace and quiet on the dock and we came and muscled him out.

Adorable and delicious minicakes.
Love Cindy’s grandpa in the background looking on as his son and granddaughter take a spin around the floor.
Cindy and Josh, it was truly an honor to be present that day. May the Lord continue to bless your marriage as he so obviously has blessed you growing up with your awesome families. We can’t wait to show you the rest! Blessings.

The colors are amazing.
The red wall with the bridesmaids…brilliant. I also am a big fan of the groomsman crop…so much detail it just draws me in. Looks like an advertisement!

This is so beautiful, you guys always blow me away! Did they have a wedding designer?

Jo, thank you so much. No, Cindy thought of all this herself. I know she got the fan and token idea off of the Knot but she just has a great eye for color and is a graphic artist by profession so she branded their wedding perfectly! I was thrilled with what she came up with.

Ok, so his last name is WOOD and he is actually handy with wood??? Now, that is impressive!!!
I LOVE THIS THEME and how fresh and fun and laid back it seemed.
Every time I see each wedding, I’m like “oh I would do that if I could do it again!” hahaha…in reality if I ever had to plan my wedding again, I think it would be a backyard BBQ! :)
LOVE LOVE the charity token ideas. SO CUTE!

my only question is why, oh why weren’t you doing it when WE got married in the ‘burg?!?!?

Absolutely beautiful photos!
I love the creativity of their wedding and how you were able to capture it all. The colours, the favors, the programs, the beach, etc.
LOVE it!!!

Is there anything to say other than, “WOW”?! A true celebration rather than your typical event~
