Catherine and Nick~ June 20, 2009

I know I gush about all our brides and I can’t help it, we are so totally blessed with some amazing women. Catherine and Nick have one of the coolest stories I have heard to date. They have known each other since they were two years old. Nick’s mother is Vietnamese and has helped many families come over from Vietnam. Catherine’s family helped host some of these families as well as teach English to them. This common connection and a deep faith in God has kept them, as well as their families, interwoven over several decades. It wasn’t until after college that things took a sharp turn from Friendville to Loversville for Catherine and Nick.
They are VERY different and yet VERY much the same. Catherine tells “their story” with fully animated hand gestures and facial expressions. Nick sits very quietly and interjects a detail here and there but by and large he is happy to let Catherine do all the talking. He is a sweet and reserved man with kind eyes that seem to smile at all times. Catherine radiates joy, energy, and zeal for life. They love the medical field, travel, God and each other. From our first meeting at the Cheesecake Factory….I knew these were friends that you could connect to on a soul level. We have been thankful for them over this last year and they continue to bless us with their words of encouragement. We recently got a package in the mail from them with a gorgeous ring that Catherine bought for me in Italy because it reminded her of me! Unbelievably thoughtful and sweet! I gotta be honest, if I was in Italy with Ryan, I don’t think I would be thinking much of anyone else.
So here are some of our favorite images from Catherine and Nicks blessed union. The day was peppered with personal touches. Catherine is very sentimental and made sure she continued many traditions into her wedding day.
This broach was her grandmother’s and was placed in her bouquet.
This is Catherine’s ring and her mother’s ring together.
This necklace was her grandmother’s.
with her best friend from college
Catherine is seriously one buff chic. I would not want to arm wrestle her.
A requested Reservoir Dogs reenactment shot.
First time we have had a live choir sing while the bride came down the aisle. The song they sang was the song that Catherine’s mom came down to on her wedding day, In Thy Holy Temple.
Catherine also carried the Bible her mother carried down the aisle. Her mother also made the lace jacket that Catherine wore.
We were told it was a tradition amongst all the sister’s weddings to take a photograph of their dad in some form of distress about being broke after each wedding. This was our spin on it. He was too cute to play along!
This sign was a little nod to the fact that Nick is a pharmacist.
My favorite of the day!
This was a gift to Nick that Catherine had specially made of them for their cake.
This cheesecake was AHHHHH-MAZING!!!!! Unbelievably memorable.
The reception was decorated with fans brought over from Vietnam to pay tribute to Nick’s heritage.
The favors….filled with yummy cupcakes.
I don’t usually put three ring shots in but Ryan had such a great variety to pick from I couldn’t decide. I loved them all for different reasons.
Nick’s mom is on the left.
Congratulations you guys. It was an honor of the heart to be able to witness your God-centered vows. You are gems and your love for each other and your families is so apparent. It is our privilege to call you friends now.
