i love this post, kel. this is so raw. i love that you got to go to that workshop. jeremy cowart is ridiculousness. :) but most of all, i’m so glad you got that time with ryan- to talk about your future. it’s so good to always reassess and remember what’s important to you personally. i love how you put your family first. it’s admirable.

Love the post Kelly. It has been a while since I have commented, but I still follow your blog and love the photos you take, and love your stories - and how much you and your family LOVE Jesus!

And as a ‘wanna-be’ photographer, yet never shooting in manual, i was shocked you said you never shoot in manual! but your photos look amazing - so just keep on doing what you are doing, and i’m going to stop beating myself up for NOT shooting manual.

Thanks so much for posting this! I’ve actually been struggling with the decision to get saturated in the wedding photo business as a husband and wife photo duo mostly because Jeff and I are only a few months into our marriage. I’ve been hesitant and afraid that if we did this, we’d somehow start seeing each other as business partners before we could really have the chance to invest our time just being a solid married couple, and I don’t want to concentrate on trying to build a business together before building our marriage. Reading about your journey and the way you are selective about how many weddings you shoot a month was definitely insightful—I didn’t even think about the option of saying “no” to more than two weddings a month :) Kudos to you and Ryan for putting your family first! I totally admire you both :)
