Many of you know that the hotel used to be a shoe factory with the same namesake so it is fitting that shoes are incorporated throughout the hotel’s design and architecture. Here’s the history.

GUILTY!!!

We talked about our new blog coming out at the first of the year and with all good intentions that was the plan. But because plans involve people who have real lives, families, and other commitments that pay their bills, things have been pushed back a bit. We have been blessed to have friends and family in high places who have generously traded services with us in exchange for a kick butt blog/portfolio/resource website and intro video. The official launch date for everything is the end of April and believe me…you don’t want to miss the final product. Like Michael Jackson, you won’t even recognize our new site!!!

We are going to have some awesome giveaways to celebrate the launch so if you like things like ITune or Starbucks gift cards…you may just want to keep nosing around our site. Nothing like bribing people to be faithful readers and COMMENTERS!!! (you know we love LOVE!)

I thought it would be fun to give you a little lookyloo at the homepage mock up. Just a peek though, we don’t want to ruin all the surprises. My cousin Steve “Teevio” Hallgren who is the Designer/Developer for a well known social networking site for all things artistic, VIRB.com is gracing us with his uber talent to give us one amazing site. A portfolio, blog and resource guide all in one. SAHWEET!

We are breathing down the neck of shooting season and watching the calendar start to fill up as the weather warms up…thank you spring! For now you are stuck seeing some pictures of our kids because

A-They are the cutest things we could create…literally
B-I never print pictures so thousands sit on our hard drive never being debuted anywhere
C-It’s our site and there is nothing you can do to stop us from exploiting our kids

Movie and popcorn on a cold afternoon

Brad and his sweet and saucy girlfriend, Lyndsey, needed some new photos and we happen to be in need of a video and thus the magical word “trade-out” was spoken.

Yesterday we spent the afternoon exploring some new locations around Lynchburg while Lyndsey and Brad turned on the heat. This is a couple that exudes a sense of style and humor, just our kind of peeps to shoot! We had so much fun!!! You guys brought your A-game and it shows in the photos. Thanks for being great sports despite some cold spots during the day.

About eight months ago we were approached by a budding wedding magazine, Soiree, to be a part of their first issue. Not only did they use some of our photos for stock prints, interview us for an article on what to ask your wedding photographer and choose one of our most favorite weddings to highlight in their “Everyday Soiree” section. We were able to help them out with purchasing some ad space and selling one of our photos to another vendor, Old Trail Golf Course, in Charlottesville, VA for them to use our photo as their ad! (It is on the to-do list to scan in the pages of the first issue in which our work is featured).

The best part is the relationship we have developed with Emily and Stephanie, the editors of the magazine. We have so much fun every time we meet.

For the fall/winter spread we were asked to photograph some mock centerpiece ideas over at the Farm Basket. We jumped at the chance to help them out and take a break from wedding photography to shoot commercial for a change.

This very DELICIOUS, AMAZING toffee, chocolate covered apple ended up in my belly. Did I mention that there is about a 1/4 inch of caramel between the chocolate and apple. OH MAMA!!! All apples, truffles, and cookies were courtesy of Taste Selects in Lynchburg. She is the best!
