Lauren and Kristin~ Editorial Maternity Teaser

I don’t know where to begin to explain this shoot or my sheer delight in working with Lauren and Kristin. I am going to save the story for Part 1 of 2 posts coming soon. All I can say is this was an adrenaline shot to the heart for me in photography. Every once in awhile I have to plan a shoot that is left of center for what we normally do and remind myself why I love working with women and why photography is such a powerful medium. Enjoy the sheer amazingness, beauty, and exquisite detail of this shoot. Lauren and Kristin you are pure pleasure. (Oh and not to shaft Ryan, he was totally there too, but he won’t take credit for the ideas, just the amazing photos…thanks babe!)

Third trimester and in bathing suits, I couldn’t love them more for agreeing to this!

Both ladies are expecting “pink”! Little Beatrice will be joining Lauren and Adam in September. Little Violet will be joining Kristin and Adam (different Adam..I know it is confusing!) in August.

My friends and renovation specialists at Solace Restoration, loaned me this sign. This is a portion of a song of blessing we sing at our church. Ryan and I sing this song to our kids every night before bed. It is incredible.

Traci and Greg~ Engagement Teaser

I need to know the line in coveting because when Traci walked out and I saw her amazing mustard and black dress I wanted it, I WANTED IT BAD. Does that make me creepy or just someone who appreciates a great dress and heels? We have a 100% winning streak this year and Traci and Greg kept it going. They are AWESOME, fun and super dooper easy to hang out with. We can’t wait to show you more….but for now…chew on this!

Sylvette and Nate~ Wedding Teaser

Sylvette and Nate have been waiting very patiently for me to get my act together and get their blog post up. Unfortunately, they will have to be “patienter” (yes that’s a word in my book). I informed them of one of our laptops went kaput with their lovely blog post on it. SIGH…APPLE…I expect more from you. Back to the drawing board.

So as to appease them, I have just two shots that I could stare at all day. They are so classically stunning I get lost in them. We have SOOOOO much to tell you about this couple and I can’t wait to share their beautiful day with you. For now…get lost in these two gems.

Knock on wood, this has been our only ceremony that got rained on in four years. But in a weird way, I’m glad it did for this picture is so delicious. Ryan snagged this baby.

Corey and Tim Charleston Wedding~ Teaser

Yet another long weekend on the road. We logged over a 1000 miles on our trip to Charleston, SC and back but boy was it worth every mile! Check out this teaser of the fabulous Corey and Tim. Can’t wait to blog the full wedding!

Kelly and Brandon~ Engagement Teaser

Not to be outdone by Sylvette and Nate, Kelly and Brandon worked their own brand of mojo in Georgetown the following morning. We started our day off right…with breakfast! A solid hour of stories, laughter, and amazing roasted potatoes!

Brandon brings to the shoot a rugged, mysterious charm. He just got back in October from a six month hike up the Appalachian Trail. Kelly is a stunning classic beauty. I have SERIOUS teeth envy. I have always wanted the perfect, double row smile, the kind that lights up a room. Kelly is an interior designer and has impeccable taste. Hanging with these two is as easy as putting on Velcro shoes.

Enjoy some of our favorite moments from these two love birds.

We started out at this amazing Danish furniture store. There’s more where this came from when we get to their full blog post soon!

We then took a drive down to a Manassas battlefield for some nice rustic shots.

We had a great time hanging with Alan and Jodi on Wednesday evening on some familiar stomping grounds of Lynchburg. They are a super active couple that love to have a good time and it shows. We got back from an all day excursion on Saturday out at Pounding Mill, Virginia. Where is that you ask? Thick in the mountains of western Virginia breathing down the neck of West Virginia. Totally gorgeous, totally rustic, just plain beautiful. Enjoy Ming and Dan’s engagement teaser.

I felt it only fitting to begin our series on our Miami trip with the brilliant lyrical stylings of Will Smith. I mean does it get any more descriptive than that opening? To fully get in the mood, listen here. I had to chuckle when our friend Adam, emailed to see how our trip was and included the video in his email. Oh man…time-warp back to the year I graduated COLLEGE!!! 1998 for you not savvy with Mr. Smith’s hits.

So let’s get to the teaser first before we dive into the Portnoy family album.

We are super duper pumped to share Michele and Kenley’s wedidng with you all. But as traveling for almost a week would have it….there are a million logistical duties requiring our time and attention first. To appease your ravenous appetites for spring loveliness….take a bite out of these gems.

On to some highlights from our trip. We built in two extra days to relax and recuperate from traveling. I’m gonna say it. As beautiful as Miami is, it is not a fit for our interests. I know…gasp….we are not “party till the break of dawn” people which is definitely the theme of this city. Although I could laze away my days on the beach reading….Ryan, being all Irish and such…prefers to keep the sun to a minimal. We had some excellent recommendations (Thank you Crystal!) for food and places to site see, so that took up most of our time. It was SOOOOO nice not to have a laptop in our faces or kids tugging on us. We could come and go as we pleased, totally awesome!

After being in the city for about an hour we headed to an amazing Haitian restaurant called Tap Tap. I was very proud of Ryan for spreading his palette wings and trying new things. Both of us were pleased with our dishes. I ate everything but the plate. I also indulged in Zagat’s #1 rated Mojito in Miami….YUM!

We did walk on the beach.

Picked up the kids some cheap stuff. We indulged Bennett’s fascination for cars.

Speaking of cars…how was this for a rental upgrade? PEEEEEIMP!

We even snuck in an afternoon matinee of Alice and Wonderland in 3D….MATINEE on a Saturday people…we were living LARGE!!!!

Hit up Anthropologie….deep breath. Scored fuchsia tights on sale and an adorable dish towel. (we were over our weight limit on our luggage. Literally and figuratively could not afford to buy anything). I would love to do a photo shoot in Anthropologie, detail heaven.

Our last night we indulged in some Cuban food.

Empanadas!!! That tasty delight on the right was a steak, avocado, and roasted potato salad. Oh yeah, I had a food baby going after the last bite. Jeans were a bad idea.

So there you have it. A couple snippets into our long weekend in Miami. Nothing earth shattering but good none the less. Adios!

Sara and Todd Anytime Shoot Teaser

I do believe this couple is our Thanksgiving gift to Kellan. It isn’t often that a couple goes all out style like Sara and Todd did. I seriously can’t control myself making just the teaser short. We will be doing several blog entries to cover their session. I know the word “swoon” gets overused in the wedding blogging world, but I am swooning from their images….giddy, giddy,giddy!!!

Sara is an awesome children’s photographer in town and also happens to be a friend whom we love. She and Todd are the ying to our yang of humor. I think we all resort to middle schoolers when we are around each other so making them comfortable and getting them to laugh was not an issue.

Enjoy a teaser to our final session of 2009 and boy did we go out with a bang! Happy Thanksgiving everyone, we will be back in the office on Monday. Have a blessed holiday weekend!
