Nuggets / Couples

The engagement session... your moment to shine as a couple showing all dimensions of your relationship for others to see. The soft and flirty side, the goofy/silly side, the rockin' model side, the passionate side. What to wear?

As with all our couples, we work together to come up with a concept for your shoot that will help decrease anxiety and increase excitement. This isn't the time to get insecure about your chewed up fingernails, one random zit, or that pale winter skin. Engagement sessions are totally about us capturing your love. There's no stress of a wedding day or a schedule to keep. It's all about having fun and being honest... one of our favorite types of sessions.
The biggest dilemma is what to wear. This can become a huge hurdle in your brain and we don't want to see you get frustrated. Let us suggest a few things as your photographers.

My parents have a gigantic picture from their engagement session hanging in their foyer. My dad has a sweet 'fro, handlebar mustache and my mom is looking fly with a pile of hair on her head and false eyelashes. They encompass the look of the 70's and look totally amazing. The trends of that era are evident in the style of their hair and clothing.

So we say... embrace the current trends. Some of you are a jeans and t-shirt kinda guy/girl and others only wear solids. That's fine for your everyday look but think outside the box for your engagement session...live a little! So what if your kids say some day, "I can't believe that was in style!" You can look at them confidently and reply, "Baby, I was the epitome of style!"

Yes, you should look like you but with a shot of style and a sprinkle of trend on top. My two big rules are accessories, accessories, accessories and wear color! Unless you were blessed with some killer genes that gave you mocha skin tone...avoid white, khaki and beige around your face (collars are fine in these colors). Pump that skin tone up with a pop of color! Girls....bonus points for funky heels and jewelry! We love for you to have 1-2 outfit changes that range from casual to formal. Not only does this change the mood of the photos but when you feel like a million bucks...it shows!

To give you some ideas of what's hot these days, take a gander at some inspiration from my favorite store... Anthropologie!
For the gentlemen readers or those brides who plan their future hubbys' wardrobes, here are some inspiration boards for you too! These were taken from two of Ryan's favorite stores that meet his shredded wheat and frosted side clothing needs. JCrew and Buckle.
